Why does my 2wire

Not sure if this was already asked, but lately ironically after I did software updates on my mac , my wireless internet connection hasn't been stable. The signal strength seems to always go up and down, and I can't get past 5 minutes without getting a poor signal.

I already disconnected the 2WIRE and it didn't seem to fix the problem. Anyone else experiencing this or know what's causing this? It's a bit of an annoyance to not be able to surf the internet without losing connection, or getting a slow one.

The isn't like the sw? That piece of gear you mentioned is pricey. I'm pretty pissed that SBC sold me this portal saying it would be easy and inexpensive to turn all the lines in my house into a high speed connection. I'm thinking of ditching this portal and just getting wireless. If I exchange this portal for the standard modem anyone have a recommendation for a router that would work well with that modem and with a bridge for the playstation?

The Hauppauge has dual IR blasters to control two set-top boxes, eliminating the cable-card problem, and would allow an easy media server connection along with free DVR capability. With 2 such tuners, you could view and record 4 channels simultaneously using 4 set-top boxes. My only disappointment is that the lacks a HD video input, so video quality for TV would be only S-Video at best. However, your comment on the product being oversold in an area and not being able to supply enough bandwidth is incorrect. Like all services, especially any DSL variant is going to have these same restrictions. You're getting a solid through-put connection on your line that's not shared. Cable suffers from line sharing as the connection is split once it hits their local node or cross box. I hate those cursed 2Wire devices. Classic single point of failure, but that might be forgivable if they didn't suck so bad.
